What Boudoir Means To Me
For me, boudoir isn’t an art form geared towards perfection. It’s an expression of authenticity and its purpose is uncovering the beauty that resides within vulnerability. I’ve never been a stereotypical boudoir photographer and quite frankly, I never will be. I don’t think poorly of artists who prefer taking the traditional route, I’ve just found that it doesn’t always help someone heal their relationship with their natural body. This craft is sacred and intimate. It’s a unique form of somatic therapy. It’s empowering because it's the act of being seen for who you truly are. It’s all the more special when you use it to embrace your individuality instead of dressing up as something you are not.
Empowerment looks different for everyone. I’m disclosing boudoir as a way to heal versus what society tells you it should be. Our representation of self confidence in general is partially inaccurate. I’ve worked with many women over the years, all having their own story. The challenges they faced is what made them strong, it’s what made them beautiful. That’s something deserving of the spotlight. Their elegance stemmed from this, not from being performative. Being on display can be incredibly daunting, even when you’re by yourself. I provide a safe space for you to feel in whatever way you need to. It’s not about being sexy, it’s about being real. The sensuous element of what I do comes from being naked with yourself spiritually and emotionally until you feel comfortable physically. Our relationship with ourselves is the most complex and irrevocably beautiful relationship that we’ll ever have. We must trust the process, the ebbs and the flows.
Perfection isn’t authenticity, it's what robs us of it and delivers a very distorted perspective of ourselves. I don’t care what people think of you, I don’t care what you think you should look like or who you should be, I care about who you are.
I honor the person you once were, because they’re what got you here today.
I encourage you to not fear the person you’re becoming, they’re even wiser than you are now.
But the inevitable truth is, who you are today is all that matters.
Learn how to look at yourself naturally, and embody that person completely.
Carry yourself with pride because you deserve it. You’ve survived more than some others have.
Societal beauty standards will always be a thing unfortunately but it doesn’t mean we have to adhere to them. You’ll unravel what makes you special the more you spend time with you.
In those quiet, maybe even darkest moments is where the echo of your spirit is.
For me, boudoir is something that encompasses simply this.
It’s the ability to feel, to channel, and to unearth what comes from within.
My only goal is for you to see the truth and have images to look back on, honoring the moments where you found yourself in the dark. Remember what that felt like, and bring it forth with you, causing beautiful ripple effects into your life.
Boudoir gives you the courage that lies within vulnerability.
It’s a gift, and a gateway towards your brilliance.
That’s where your beauty is.
