Being a Passionate Feeler
I spent the bulk of my youth feeling like a victim to my emotions, more specifically to the emotions of those around me.
No one really thinks about the downsides of being an empathetic and giving person. It’s easy to get lost in the sea of everyone’s feelings. It’s even more difficult when you have the desire to save everyone. Inevitably you must come to terms with the fact that others need to learn how to save themselves.
The thing about being sensitive is that it’s a gift. Those capable of enduring the greatest pain are capable of experiencing the most greatest love.
Just like the yin and the yang, we need balance of the two. We need disorder to instill order, and we need the dark as much as we need the light.
Empaths are the physical beings who carry this sacred gift. We feel what most people don’t or can’t. We’re not gods, but we are those touched by the spirit of divinity. The ones who heal and help tether others to this earth. We’re highly attuned to our surroundings and those within it. We see the internal wounds that need fixing, and we breathe life into humanity. The world needs people like us because our compassion is what drives us.
Our purpose is to love in the simplest form, through the little things we do for others.
We are the ones who show you the love you carry inside of yourself.
We are the mirrors looking back at you, and sometimes this can make us feel at a loss within ourselves. Being an empath can feel as if you’re carrying both a blessing and a curse. We have to work twice as hard to remain grounded. Otherwise you’ll feel like you’re drowning or completely out of touch with what makes you who you are.
I spent years wishing that I couldn’t feel anything.
During times of grief it’s almost as if I’ve achieved that goal. For some, depression is feeling completely nothing.
But I can confidently say, I’d rather feel pain than nothing at all.
To not feel is to not love, and without love life is utterly meaningless.
We are the symbols of light in darkness,
and we are the ones who awaken it in others.
We are more than necessary.
Empathy is a gift from the universe.
One that touches the heart of everyone we encounter, and especially our own.
Don’t ever lose sight of that.
